Albertine – 1921. A lovely smell to this very vigorous and famous rambling rose. It has masses of double gilded pink flowers. A strong constitution. 15ft by 8ft.

Rosa banksiae lutea – 1825. Very vigorous, fine leaves and stems. Completely thornless. Bears clouds of dainty, soft yellow double flowers in May. A truly spectacular sight. 20ft by 10ft.

Rosa banksiae alba plena – 1807. Masses of dainty white double flowers. Sweetly scented. 20ft by 8ft.

Rosa bracteataThe McCartney Rose 1793. Flowers intermittently borne from June until the first frosts. Single pure white anenome like flowers with pronounced golden stamens. Stems and leaves are downy to the touch. Best grown as a climber. A parent of the rose Mermaid and tolerates a North wall. 8ft by 8ft.

Blush Rambler – 1903. A very vigorous rambler bearing huge sprays of semi-double blooms that vary from white through to all shades of pink. A highly fragrant Multiflora rambler. Summer flowering. 15ft by 15ft.

Bleu Magenta – 1900. A virtually thornless rose bearing fully double blooms of grape purple in large clusters amid glossy bright green foliage. 12ft by 10ft.

Bobbie James – 1961. A vigorous Multiflora rambler bearing huge sprays of striking, very fragrant, semi-double, pure white flowers with a boss of yellow stamens. Summer flowering. 30ft by 20ft.

Debutante – 1902. Pale rose pink clusters of small fragrant flowers amid glossy foliage. 12ft by 10ft.

Dortmund – 1955. A hybrid of R. kordesii. Clusters of large wavey single red blooms each with a white eye. Dark green foliage. Repeat flowering. 10ft by 6ft.

Dorothy Perkins – 1902. Cascades of clear pink flowers hanging grape – like from it’s stems. A very useful rambler for the late season. Tough and vigorous, it will grow through attacks of mildew. 10ft by 8ft.

Excelsa 1909. A red form of Dorothy Perkins. Large trusses of small crimson flowers. Very vigorous. A most useful Rambler. 15ft by 12ft.

Félicité et Perpétue 1827. A vigorous, almost evergreen rambler bearing large clusters of creamy white double flowers tipped pink. 15ft by 10ft.

Francis E Lester - 1946. Highly fragrant and beautiful. Masses of little white edged in pink flowers like miniature dog roses. Good for less formal planting. Masses of small red hips in the Autumn. 15ft by 10ft.

Francoise Juranville - 1906. Clear pink with deeper shadings. Fragrant and similar to Albertine. Pliable growth. 15ft by 10ft

Ghislaine de Feligonde – 1916. Short rambler or large bush. Very large clusters of peachy yellow flowers. Almost thornless. Continuous flowering. 8ft by 8ft.

Goldfinch – 1907. Fine foliage, scented and very free flowering. A mixture of golden yellow and primrose with richly coloured anthers. Could be grown as a shrub with some support. 8ft by 5ft.

Rosa helenae – 1907. Excellent used as a climber into trees. Fragrant creamy white single flowers borne in dense clusters, later festooned by small oval red hips. 20ft by 15ft.

Rosa helenae hybrid Same as R. helenae but semi double flowers.

Kew Rambler - 1912. Plentiful greyish green foliage. Clusters of single small pink fragrant flowers with a central white eye. Good orange hips in Autumn. 18ft by 12ft.

Kiftsgate – 1954. R. filipes hybrid. An extremely rampant rambler for growing into trees etc. Huge trusses of small single creamy white flowers with golden stamens. Strong fragrance. Red hips.. Summer flowering. 30ft by 20 ft.

Paul’s Himalayan Musk – 1916. Almost certainly a R. brunonii hybrid. Very rampant growth bearing clusters of small double lilac pink blooms. Highly fragrant. Summer flowering. 30ft by 30ft.

Paul Transon - 1900. Creamy coppery salmon flowers with coppery tinted foliage. Scented. Repeat flowers in Autumn. 10ft by 8ft.

Phyllis Bide – 1923. A good shorter remontant rambler. Clusters of semi-double pink and yellow blooms. Light green foliage. Repeat flowering. 10ft by 6ft.

Rambling Rector – Very Old. Extremely vigorous. Suitable for growing into a tree. Masses of small, semi-double white blooms. Fragrant. Probably a Multiflora hybrid. Summer flowering. 20ft by 15ft.

Sander’s White – 1912. Rosette flowers of pure white in cascading clusters. Sweetly fragrant. 12ft by 8ft.

Seagull – 1907. A very vigorous scrambler. Large clusters of single pure white flowers with pronounced golden stamens. Fragrant. Grey – green foliage. 25ft by 15ft

Super Fairy – 1932. The rambling form of the bush. 8ft by 4ft.

Treasure Trove – 1979. A seedling from ‘Kiftsgate’ with all the vigour of that rose. Large clusters of scented, semi double pale apricot flowers. Stems have fewer thorns than the parent. Much admired by many visitors here. 20ft or more.

Violette – 1921. Very double violet purple flowers borne in large trusses on a vigorous plant. 15ft by 10ft.

Weilchenblau – 1909. ‘Violet Blue’ A vigorous rambler, this bears large clusters of small, semi double purple violet flowers with some white brush markings. They are slightly scented and mature to a bluish lilac and then fade to a lilac grey. Suitable for a North wall. 15ft by 12ft.

Wickwar 1960. Seedling of R. soulieana. Short to medium tough climber or shrub. Small grey – green leaves and single cream flowers, very fragrant. Smothered in orange oval hips during the Autumn. Tolerates shade and wind. 12ft by 5ft.
